Eddie Munson is a character in Stranger Things, portrayed by Joseph Quinn. He is loosely based on author and artist Damien Echols, who was falsely accused of being the ‘ringleader’ of the ‘West Memphis Three’ in the early 1990s.
This case of wrongful accusation led to the phenomenon of Satanic panic, which was mirrored in Stranger Things season 4 when the townspeople of Hawkins wrongly accused Eddie of being involved in a satanic cult. Unfortunately, Eddie did not get to escape and was presumed dead in the end.
